Mickey’s Mechanical Man (1933)
Mickey’s Mechanical Man Review
Mickey’s Mechanical Man is a 1933 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a solid flick.
So Mickey builds a robot and brings him to a fight in a ring with the opponent being a giant gorilla. The film has traces of future ‘Big Hero 6’ in it which is interesting. Although it doesn’t utilize its premise nowhere near as strongly or to the fullest degree possible, it’s still a fun little flick and it’s different from the others as it’s the first ever Mickey Mouse short with a robot.
I loved how the robot looked and acted, the character design is terrific on him and especially the movements are so well executed and they look real. The work done here is certainly splendid for 1933. Minnie here doesn’t have a bra which is odd, but she is memorable and well used with Mickey of course being one of the highlights. I definitely liked this cartoon, but the overall action should have been much better executed for it to work properly.
Mickey’s Mechanical Man needed much better action and some gags, but the premise is good, the robot looks great and the two mice are very good here.
