Mickey’s Fire Brigade (1935)
Mickey’s Fire Brigade Review
Mickey’s Fire Brigade is a 1935 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is one terrific entry.
Mickey, Donald and Goofy are firefighters and they try to stop the fire in a building, but the fire is alive and it fights them and kicks them to comedic effect. They try to save Clarabelle Cow who is in the bath and puts on a fight with them. Yes, she’s hilarious here and one of the highlights. Unfortunately, Donald and Mickey aren’t the best utilized. Goofy, on the other hand, is the standout one here as his speech to Cow is quite funny.
The film is at its best in the second and third act where the action kicks in and the humor kicks up a notch. I particularly admired the animation here which is fantastic and a proof of how Disney was already at the top of its game in 1935. The building looks great, the action is stupendously executed and the standout is the animated fire which moves very realistically. I also liked the score and the humor is so good here with a couple of great, funny moments.
Mickey’s Fire Brigade is one of the classics from this era in Mickey Mouse filmography thanks to stunning animation and strong humor.
