Mickey’s Delayed Date (1947)
Mickey’s Delayed Date Review
Mickey’s Delayed Date is a 1947 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is such a sweet flick.
This is one of those wonderful romantic entries in the series which are all too rare unfortunately. Minnie is absolutely furious at Mickey for being late for their date in that hilarious opening sequence with their conversation being just perfect. I wanted even more Minnie here as she only was used in the first and last scene, but Mickey is very good himself.
The highlight, though, is Pluto who’s perfectly used in this short and you can see how valuable he can be for his master as he brings him the ticket for their show here just in the nick of time. He takes too much runtime from the two lovebirds, but still I loved that he was so important plotwise. The animation is also lovely here, especially in the opening with its cozy interior.
Mickey’s Delayed Date has a great use of Pluto in the story which is also very romantic and charming.
