Mickey’s Birthday Party (1942)
Mickey’s Birthday Party Review
Mickey’s Birthday Party a 1942 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a fine remake.
Yes, we’ve got another remake and I am definitely getting tired of them. I do wonder why Walt did them because he was always the man who promoted originality and new storytelling. The 1931 original still remains a solid piece of early Mickey Mouse filmmaking so this one was entirely unnecessary if you ask me.
However, in spite of all odds, they actually managed to make a solid enough movie that comes pretty close to the original because they added some characters that weren’t there before plus some new scenes too including a fun ending and a couple of other solid moments here and there. The film has an infectious energy to it and a great sense of family gathering fun which I loved.
Mickey’s Birthday Party is a remake which is unnecessary, but still undeniably solid, especially in the new scenes that they added.
