Mickey Plays Papa (1934)
Mickey Plays Papa Review
Mickey Plays Papa is a 1934 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a weaker entry.
Once again Mickey gets to take care of an orphan mouse brought to his doorstep. Again… Yes, this is such a familiar premise by now and seen already in much better ‘Mickey’s Orphans’. This is thus such an unoriginal movie which is never particularly entertaining, especially having in mind its very long running time of nine minutes.
The animation is actually rather good as are some of the action scenes. The problem I’ve had with them is that, although well executed, they weren’t particularly funny as the film is thoroughly lacking in strong gags. What I did admire though is the beginning which is very effective in its creepy atmosphere and the hooded figure is particularly menacing looking.
Mickey Plays Papa is an unoriginal film in its premise and although I liked some scenes quite a bit, most of it was neither engaging nor funny.
