Mickey Mouse and the Missing Key Review

Mickey Mouse and the Missing Key is a Disney comic that was published in 1949 under the Four Color Comics label (#261). It’s a somewhat lackluster issue.

This comic has two stories and both were only solid with the former working better than the latter. I did not love the second story as it was about gangsters, so it was very much a product of its time in its jargons and plot. It had its moments, but overall it was forgettable.

The titular story worked much better. The twist ending was a bit too silly for its own sake, but it was still a lot of fun. The storyline was mysterious and engaging in the right way while benefitting from a well utilized Mickey and a couple of particularly memorable scenarios with the key stealing sequence being quite amusing.

Mickey Mouse and the Missing Key has a weaker second story, but a solid titular one. That story isn’t the greatest, but it had its moments and it was a lot of fun. It’s a fine, but lackluster issue that is the weakest one so far in the series’ run.

My Rating – 3.5
