Mickey and the Seal (1948)
Mickey and the Seal Review
Mickey and the Seal is a 1948 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is such a sweet short.
A seal wanders into Mickey’s bathroom and of course hilarity ensues. I found this movie not as terrific as it could have been given the endearing subject matter as it could have been longer and more memorable, but still it’s highly charming and I really enjoyed the mid part of it the most.
Mickey and Pluto are great and I loved their roles here, but it is the seal who steals the show how cute he is. The bathtub sequence is the best one, but the ending is also very sweet. The animation and sound design are great too in helping the character feel real. It’s another short from this decade where the two stumble upon some animal and have an adventure with it and because I like this formula the most out of all of them, I did not mind it being repeated again.
Mickey and the Seal has such a sweet titular seal in it plus the entire film exudes charm in its every frame.
