Mexican Joyride Review

Mexican Joyride is a 1947 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty good film.

Daffy Duck is in Mexico for a holiday and he gets into this whole thing with the bull. I found most of this film lacking in terms of genuinely hilarious and truly memorable or original moments. Those were evidently lacking and the animation is also nothing to write home about.

But the movie’s otherwise pretty good as Daffy is in his usual great, screwy element and the bull is also a surprisingly strong character and a good fit for the duck as I really liked their interactions. I liked the third act the most as the first was a bit slow, but also the middle parts contained some solid action too. The Mexican setting is well utilized into the story.

Mexican Joyride isn’t great, but it’s pretty good thanks to the combined might of per usual excellent Daffy and a surprisingly strong character in the bull.
