Louvre Come Back to Me! (1962)
Louvre Come Back to Me! Review
Louvre Come Back to Me! is a 1962 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty terrific cartoon.
Pepe Le Pew pursues Penelope Pussycat through the corridors of the Louvre. This is one of the more unique shorts in this series as it features a different setting very well used for laughs. Claude Cat is also here and he is somewhat disappointingly realized, but this is Pepe’s short and he is superb here.
The highlights include those gags that fully utilize the museum. The skunk painting his lover was a hilarious scene while the final moment with Mona Lisa was unexpected and very funny in her perfectly delivered line. The animation is also gorgeous as the museum halls look splendid and the action is very well executed. This was the last classic cartoon starring Pepe Le Pew and what a great way to go.
