Lost & Found (2018)
Lost & Found Review
Lost & Found is a 2018 animated short film that was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
It’s about a woolly dinosaur who has to unravel himself so he can help save his friend. It’s a very moving story that actually ends tragically which I did not expect. I found the animation here superb with the designs being great and the movements polished, it’s a rare stop-motion short of the year and it’s really stupendous. I also loved its tender, highly effective score.
This flick is flawed as I found the action sequences overwhelming, though admittedly very well executed. But just the pace is weird and especially that beginning is extremely abrupt as the movie just sort of starts. But other than that, all the other scenes are mostly excellent and the ending is memorable. It tugs at the heartstrings a bit too much possibly, but it still does that successfully.
Lost & Found definitely is manipulative and abrupt, but still very moving, tenderly scored and wonderfully animated.
