Bosko the Doughboy (1931)
Bosko the Doughboy Review
Bosko the Doughboy is a 1931 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is one of the worst entries so far.
Yes, I really did not see why this film is so acclaimed. It is cited as one of the best Bosko shorts and his high point when to me it is possibly his low point. The critics pinpoint to the more serious approach to storytelling and less jokes, but that is a ridiculous argument as watching a serious Looney Tunes cartoon is silly and pointless.
Bosko the Doughboy has that overly racist last moment and although well made and certainly well animated, nothing here is particularly exciting to watch. We basically watch him fighting in a war and to me that means that the action is not only overly abundant, but too serious and the humor and characterization are lacking.
Bosko the Doughboy is an incredibly overrated cartoon with boring action and an overly serious approach to it.
