Little Beau Pepe (1952)
Little Beau Pepe Review
Little Beau Pepe is a 1952 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a disappointing movie.
Pepe Le Pew is such a great, classic creation that it’s a shame he did not get an entry in his series in quite a while during this period, but finally that changes with this one. It’s another classic with a terrific premise beautifully executed. I really liked Penelope here and how she got to chase him in that amusing finale.
The first act of the flick isn’t all that interesting when compared to the other two. The standout moments here are in my opinion the monologues of Pepe’s. Those are consistently hilarious and in-character. The one line about females always running away mysteriously from men was iconic. He is terrific here, and so is the very charming animation.
Little Beau Pepe looks great and it features one hell of a turn from Pepe with many amazing one-liners.
