Kiddin’ the Kitten (1952)
Kiddin’ the Kitten Review
Kiddin’ the Kitten is a 1952 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very subpar flick.
It features some new characters such as Dodsworth the cat and the kitten. The kitten makes everything worse for the cat by eventually setting the toy mice free to harass his owner. I liked the idea of toy mice, and those were well animated, the ending is fun and the woman’s hysterics are also amusing.
However, Dodsworth himself is forgettable as is the kitten. These characters are all-new, and not making much of an impression when all is said and done. The animation is good here, but the pacing is so bad, the short lacks momentum and it felt somewhat repetitive in its action.
Kiddin’ the Kitten has its fine aspects, but overall it’s a rather forgettable Merry Melody.
