Jurassic World Dominion Movie Review
Jurassic World Dominion is a 2022 science fiction action film directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. It’s a very mediocre sequel.

Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, dinosaurs now live alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures in a new era. I found the first movie to be okay and even the sequel was passable. This one, however, capped off the franchise in a frustratingly weak manner even by this series’ standards.
There is no story to speak of here. There is a distinct lack of ideas and SF themes, and what the movie does incorporate, it steals from other franchises, so none of it was fresh in any shape or form as is usual for Trevorrow. This results in what is basically an action blockbuster flick with no SF elements to speak of. It’s also the silliest story so far with so many ridiculous moments that are to be seen to be believed how dumb they are.
This is a legacy sequel in the vein of ‘The Force Awakens’, which means the creators brought back the old favorites from the first trilogy. Jeff Goldblum is just as amusing as always while Laura Dern and Sam Neill are so endearing and fun that they seemed to have never left the series. This is how close they were to the first movie’s counterparts.
The problem here is that the film failed to do anything significant with these great characters. They are saddled with this unfortunate locust subplot that has no important relation to the major storyline. They are fun and charming, but they deserved better plot material. They still fared significantly better than Howard and Pratt, who are both left with such underdeveloped roles and a weak storyline.

Jurassic World Dominion has a couple of admittedly very well executed action sequences, so in that area as a big dumb action flick, it somewhat succeeds. The VFX are solid and the dynamic between the old characters is also great, but the film mostly felt overlong, badly written in dialogue and subpar in storytelling.
This movie left my head by the time I was finished. This movie had no stakes as we knew that everything would turn out fine. This movie felt generic and the ending was very anticlimactic. Everyone I saw it with completely agreed.
