Juke Box Jamboree (1942)
Juke Box Jamboree Review
Juke Box Jamboree is a 1942 animated short film directed by Walter Lantz. It is a rather weak cartoon.
This is basically a musical short where we follow a bunch of animals dancing to some lively, Latino-influenced music. The animation is strong, I will give it that. It’s pretty good and the designs are rather solid. Also, the score is energetic and fun. And the film flies by as it’s very short.
But, the characters are forgettable as they don’t get any development and this is one of those bland shorts which don’t really have anything going for them expect for the music and animation. The plot is non-existent and the short is overly slight. It did not deserve its Oscar nomination whatsoever.
Juke Box Jamboree has good music and animation, but it’s otherwise uninspired and forgettable.
