Jack and the Beanstalk (1931)
Jack and the Beanstalk Review
Jack and the Beanstalk is a 1931 animated short film from the Talkartoons series.
Bimbo must save Betty from the Giant in this solid take on this oft-told tale. The movie is far from perfect as the animation is only serviceable and the movie lacked a fairy tale quality that would have taken it to the next level, but the characters are the prime reason to see it.
Bimbo is super horny here and his obsession with Betty resulted in the final scene that was hilariously unhinged. The short benefits from a very good usage of Betty herself and this was the period when they finally realized that they had something special with these two, so they exploited their dynamic effectively. The film’s score is very good and its setting is well utilized while the humor is the highlight.
