Inki at the Circus (1947)
Inki at the Circus Review
Inki at the Circus is a 1947 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a middling effort.
A dog gets after Inki at the circus as the boy of course is wearing a bone on his head per usual. I found the premise okay, but not particularly strong for a full seven-minute film. They should have cut one or two minutes for sure. I really liked the inclusion of the Mynah bird who once again stole the show in that one very effective sequence.
But the rest of the cartoon became rather repetitive and overall the action is very uninspired. The circus is well utilized in some parts and the animation is quite good as is the score, but both Inki and the dog needed better moments for themselves and the bird only appeared in one overly short sequence.
Inki at the Circus has a solid score and it’s overall fine, but overlong and not particularly memorable.
