I Wish I Had Wings (1932)
Wish I Had Wings Review
I Wish I Had Wings is a 1932 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is one of the finest Merry Melodies thus far.
It is about a chicken who wish he could fly. I really enjoyed this cartoon because it is filled with a high number of memorable sequences. One of those has to be the chicken chasing the worm at the beginning. The worm kicking the bird was so funny. But of course the entire third act is also great and the titular song is a lot of fun.
The second act is definitely lacking and the film is structurally uneven, but the humor is of the best variety and it made me laugh a couple of times. Also, the animation is top-notch and the singing voice, though odd for the bird, is great and the song is excellent. The film is technically polished and consistently fun and I want more of this type of film from the series and I hope I’ll get more soon.
I Wish I Had Wings is so much fun with excellent score and song along with a couple of funny scenes.
