Hush My Mouse (1946)
Hush My Mouse Review
Hush My Mouse is a 1946 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is such a mediocre outing.
This is the last ever cartoon featuring Sniffles the mouse and I have to say that the little guy went off on a really sour note, at least in my opinion. I don’t get why they didn’t give him a proper, better send-off as here he did not get enough screen time at all, though what he got was effective and he was quite endearing and amusing in those moments.
But his movies are usually slower paced and more atmospheric whereas this one, while not fast, is not atmospheric at all and definitely not a good change as the new characters here are quite annoying, the entire dialogue is very repetitive as it basically consists of one line repeated throughout for mild comedic effect and the movie simply felt too dated to me. Again, there is nothing bad here as it has its moments and I liked the voice acting very much, but the humor just did not work for me.
Hush My Mouse is a weak swan song for Sniffles the mouse who is good here and the film has its fine scenes, but overall it’s dated, unfunny and repetitive.
