Hot Cross Bunny (1948)
Hot Cross Bunny Review
Hot Cross Bunny is a 1948 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a weaker flick.
I liked some scenes here quite a bit. The ending is ridiculous, but a lot of fun. That scientist is memorable, and the entire storyline is different and quite amusing. I also liked its animation as the movie is visually interesting, inventive and some action scenes are definitely quite unique.
However, Bugs isn’t best suited for this type of story where he serves as an experiment in a lab for some scientist. He’s good here, don’t get me wrong, but he’s simply badly cast as in my opinion Daffy would have been a much better, much more natural choice for the protagonist here.
Hot Cross Bunny is inventive and energetic, but ultimately badly cast as Bugs doesn’t really belong in a plot like this one with the scientist.
