Hop and Go (1943)
Hop and Go Review
Hop and Go is a 1943 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weak short.
It follows a kangaroo who is addicted to jumping and gets into some shenanigans. Needless to say, it’s overly simplistic in premise, too childish and cartoony with no true jokes or genuinely inventive moments. For a black-and-white short, the animation is actually very good with some memorable imagery and particularly strong character designs.
I also liked Pinto Colvig’s voice in the main role obviously as he’s Pinto Colvig. He’s excellent, the character is memorable and the film is good in visual and auditory terms. But in terms of the plot, it’s overly slim and the action is also highly forgettable. It’s badly paced and the runtime is too long.
Hop and Go is the weakest Looney Tunes entry in quite a while. It has its moments and a memorable protagonist, but the humor and action are thoroughly lacking.
