Hip Hip-Hurry! (1958)
Hip Hip-Hurry! Review
Hip Hip-Hurry! is a 1958 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a typically strong cartoon.
You can always expect good movies from Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote and this one is no exception. Predictably also, the first half is weaker and much less memorable, though it has its moments, but most of the gags were pretty standard stuff. The animation is lovely as per usual.
The second half gets much more interesting. The riverboat sequence was terrific. It was brief, but the waterfall gag was unexpected and it really worked. The final gag, though, was the absolute best. It was gloriously executed and much more elaborate than the others, leading to the giant fireworks spectacle that capped the movie in a spectacular fashion.
