Hare We Go (1951)
Hare We Go Review
Hare We Go is a 1951 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is such a witty flick.
Christopher Columbus cannot prove that the Earth is round, but Bugs is there to help him out. This is the type of historical short that works because it’s so funny how irreverent in tone it is. What made me chuckle the most was Bugs’ constant calling Columbus as Chris. The way he pronounced it was so funny to me.
He’s great here, and “Chris” is also solid. But the animation isn’t all that exciting and the entire third act is where they really dropped the ball in terms of execution and humor. The action overall could have been better, but the first act remains the finest when it comes to this particular movie.
In conclusion, Hare We Go does have its problems, but Bugs shines with his terrific lines of dialogue.
