Hare Splitter Review

Hare Splitter is a 1948 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a funny flick.

Bugs and his neighbor named Casbah compete over Daisy’s affection. Bugs impersonates her and continually torments his rival. There are a lot of things that are odd here such as this neighbor who is new and unexplained as well as the house that Daisy lives in which is human. Also, she needed a longer runtime for sure.

But otherwise, the short is hilarious. I loved that entire second act where Bugs made a fool out of this stupid guy. But in particular that dynamite finale was so amusing and memorable. The action is the highlight here along with Bugs who gets back to his roots – being incredibly smart and manipulative throughout.

Hare Splitter isn’t great, but it’s amusing enough with a particularly strong action through and through.
