Hare Remover (1946)
Hare Remover Review
Hare Remover is a 1946 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a strong Bugs Bunny entry.
Elmer Fudd wants to make a potion that turns one into his evil counterpart, but fails continuously. He traps Bugs Bunny and tries it on him, but again fails. Then, a big bear arrives in the house leading to a lot of confusion on both sides as they both think that the bear is the other one turned evil. This is a very strong situational comedy with amusing, well crafted humorous situations and a solid finale.
I wanted more from Bugs though who’s surprisingly not the star of this movie. The star is actually Elmer who’s very good here and playing a different, interesting role this time around. The bear is also very amusing, but not well defined as I could never understand whether he was intelligent or not.
Hare Remover is a strong situational comedy with a particularly good use of Elmer Fudd who’s excellent in this entry.
