Hare and Loathing in Las Vegas (2004)
Hare and Loathing in Las Vegas Review
Hare and Loathing in Las Vegas is a 2004 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.
Bugs can’t seem to lose at Sam’s casino. Then Sam realizes that Bugs has been cheating – he has rabbit’s feet. This short has a very high energy and loony factor, which made it seem old-fashioned, but only to a degree. The main issue here was the animation, which was too polished and modern for this series. It looked good, but it wasn’t charming at all. The voice acting was also problematic with Bugs’ voice not being the greatest. Joe Alaskey was not a good fit for the character.
But the movie is still pretty solid in spite of those flaws because the characterization was strong and the dynamic between Sam and Bugs was excellent. Bugs cheating was very much in character for him while Sam being all angry also was faithful to his persona. The scenes at the casino were so well done and the highlight was that absurd, but very amusing finale set at a dam.
