Gulliver Mickey (1934)
Gulliver Mickey Review
Gulliver Mickey is a 1934 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a good adaptation.
Mickey Mouse does Gulliver’s Travels in this film and they did give us one fine adaptation. Now admittedly the film isn’t hugely entertaining as it’s too long and it features your typical monster in the third act storyline, but I found the plot pretty good and the ending, though familiar by now, was still very endearing and I loved those mice orphan children.
Mickey here is definitely at one of his most heroic and that entire fight between him and spider Pete was perfectly executed and a lot of fun. I also liked the first half of the film which was overdrawn, but old-fashioned in its approach and fueled by particularly strong animation and style to it. The design of the Lilliputians is quite good too.
Gulliver Mickey isn’t as engaging as it should have been, but still it’s a classical cartoon in story and approach with an endearing finale.
