From Hand to Mouse (1944)
From Hand to Mouse Review
From Hand to Mouse is a 1944 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is such an entertaining cartoon.
It follows a lion who (for some reason) desperately tries to catch and eat a little mouse, but to no avail of course. The mouse is a manipulative bastard who continues to make a fool of the lion in a typical Looney Tunes fashion. Now, I personally found the third act to be the weakest here in terms of the action and gags, but the previous two acts are surely terrific.
The highlight for me was the mouse acting like a lion as well as the scratching part. The entire cartoon is filled with many very well executed gags that reminded me of Bugs Bunny’s shenanigans. Certainly the mouse is a clever brat and quite memorable whereas the lion is a likable, dumb goof easy to root for. Their interactions are superb.
From Hand to Mouse has a weaker ending, but everything that came before it is terrific in terms of the gags, action and characterization.
