Flowers for Madame (1935)
Flowers for Madame Review
Flowers for Madame is a 1935 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a dull short.
If I am going to watch and enjoy a flower-oriented short, then Disney’s ‘Flowers and Trees’ would suffice. This one is infinitely weaker in not that it is bad as it is cute and harmless, but it is so uninspired that it is one of the weakest Merry Melodies in quite a while now.
The reason why it disappointed me mostly likes in the technical presentation. When you’ve got nature in your film, you have to emphasize it properly and I am sorry, but this animation is not great. The score is solid as are the movements and designs, but the colors are muted and this time around you can definitely see why Technicolor is the best and it would have made this movie so much better.
Flowers for Madame surely is a very weak way to end the year of 1935 for the series with weak animation and plot.
