Fast and Furry-ous (1949)
Fast and Furry-ous Review
Fast and Furry-ous is a 1949 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a terrific first installment in this series.
Yes, finally they are here! The iconic duo, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, get their first ever cartoon, and I was honestly very surprised by its quality. Not only by its apparent quality, but also especially by its already finished and perfected formula and look of the characters which was unexpected to witness so early in the game. I love their looks here with great character design and of course terrific characterization.
Wile is such an amusing character whose facial expressions are often very funny while his utter foolishness and unfounded belief in the ACME Corporation are always hilarious. The Road Runner himself is always amusing in his expressionless, but still somehow funny face with the tongue sticking out. I find them being mute a genius decision. This short is, like many in the series, uneven in editing and structure, but the highlights for me are the school bus part, the ending is nice and of course the painting sequence steals the show.
Fast and Furry-ous is a terrific first installment in the Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner series thanks to great animation, sound and humor.
