Elite Season 2 Review
The second season of Elite did not disappoint. It is just as juicy and as wildly entertaining as its predecessor. It’s such a trashy, but undeniably fun show to watch.

This season continues the main storyline from the first one. It’s all about Samuel and eventually Guzman’s attempts to bring Polo to justice after he killed Marina at the end of the last season. While I found this storyline somewhat needlessly prolonged, especially in the last season that hints at it going even in the next season, it was still very well crafted and quite thrilling. The crime elements in this season are actually better than they were before as everything that they did with Samu was very well executed and the twist in the last episode about Guzman’s involvement was so clever.
Let’s talk about each character and their respective arcs. Again, what they did with Samuel was superb as they made him quite cool and competent while his steamy relationship with Carla was also juicy to follow. Carla is a cold bitch and him trying to bring her guard down was very fun to watch. Their dynamic is the sexiest in the show so far. Christian being run over by a car and left at a hospital was disappointing as he was such a fun dude and the show basically disposed of him too quickly.

Polo is becoming a genuine villain along with Carla and Lu at this point and I lived for that as it made for great television. His fling with Ander was fun, but it should have been explored more. I liked how Ander was involved in the murder cover-up and his mental break was one of the strongest arcs of the season as it also deteriorated his relationship with Omar, who is himself less interesting in this season, but his drama with his father was memorable and his exploration of his femininity was interesting.
There are three new characters in the show and all worked in my opinion. At first, all three felt minor to the overall plot, but eventually all got their moments to shine. Well, Rebeka still needs more work, but I like her so much that I hope the next season treats her better. Her dynamic with Samuel is intriguing and she is badass for sure.
Cayetana is excellent and her Robin Hood-type story I loved and I actually rooted for her. She is poor, but acts rich. The fact that it got most of them to figure this out so late was hilarious to me. As for Valerio, he is also excellent. Very likable despite being unrestrained, his incestuous relationship with Lu was very well explored in all of its facets and his friendship with Nadia I found to be quite sweet.

Lucrecia is now basically a full villain and I loved every second of it. She is the archetype of an evil woman in a telenovela, but her development is so good that ultimately this depiction worked. What she did to Cayetana and Nadia was beyond horrible, which made the penultimate episode highly memorable. Guzman is also great in this season and he gets more likable every time and I loved his burgeoning friendship with Samuel. As for Nadia, she is also more likable as she is less restricted and arrogant this time around. Her sexual blossoming was well portrayed.
Overall, the second season of Elite is definitely very melodramatic and a bit too prolonged in the main murder cover-up storyline. It’s soapy as all hell, but hugely entertaining. It took its time to get there, but eventually this season became almost as good as its predecessor. I continue to appreciate the amazing character development done on this series and this is the one aspect that makes me go back to it every time.
