Duck Soup to Nuts (1944)
Duck Soup to Nuts Review
Duck Soup to Nuts is a 1944 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very fun, crazy cartoon.
Although I found the second half stronger and the disparity in pace between the two is vast, I still liked both halves. It’s not a hilarious cartoon, but it is a funny one thanks to some witty banter between the two characters and a couple of really entertaining scenes. The final couple of minutes are the highlights for sure as they’re fun and manic in style.
Daffy Duck is being hunted by Porky Pig which is an interesting concept as it brings us back to the origins of these characters back in the thirties. I loved the pond setting and how well it was utilized whereas the underwater sequences are excellent. The film is so well animated and a good old-fashioned fun with these two and finally I am seeing them together again after a somewhat long hiatus.
Duck Soup to Nuts most certainly isn’t hilarious, but it is pretty amusing and a good throwback to the first couple of Porky/Daffy outings.
