Drip-Along Daffy (1951)
Drip-Along Daffy Review
Drip-Along Daffy is a 1951 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very funny flick.
This film is basically a parody of western movies which were of course extremely popular back in the fifties. Daffy is a hero while Porky is his comic relief. He has to beat a bandit who threatens his lawless town, but eventually Porky does that instead. I loved that ending which was very silly in that toy beating the bandit, but it was hilarious how Daffy was frustrated about his “comedy relief”.
I loved Porky here, he did fit the role of a comic relief so well whereas Daffy is very funny in western-type clothing, and he got many very clever lines of dialogue here. The bandit could have been more memorable, though, and the same goes for the overall first half of the movie. But the animation is truly excellent, and very polished.
Drip-Along Daffy is such a funny western parody featuring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig at their finest.
