Dexter’s Laboratory Season 3 Review
The third season of Dexter’s Laboratory is a pretty good one with a high number of very good episodes, but lacking in truly great stuff. It is a shorter season this time around with just 13 episodes.

Streaky Clean is good in concept, but forgettable in execution. A Dad Cartoon is a lot of fun as it’s always amusing watching Dexter’s goofy dad. Sole Brother is entirely ridiculous and cartoony in its premise, but it mostly works though.
Mind Over Chatter is an absolute classic where Dexter accidentally creates telepathy but in reverse where others can hear his thoughts in hilarious fashion. A Quackor Cartoon absolutely destroys what could have otherwise been a classic episode with its silly nonsense of a story and characters. Momdark is a lot of fun as seeing Mandark witness how tough it is for Dexter’s mom is quite humorous.
Copping an Aptitude should have been great, but is instead just pretty good but with a great concept for sure. A Failed Lab Experiment is so incredibly funny! Dexter creates see-through objects glasses and thus sees his family naked in such amusing sequences. It’s definitely the most purely adult and mature segment of the entire show. The Grand-Daddy of All Inventions is also rather interesting and with a good character study for the protagonist.

Poppa Wheely is fun, but not great. A Mom Cartoon is silly, but again fun. The Mock Side of the Moon is another uninspired alien episode unfortunately. If Memory Serves is definitely quite interesting in its ideas, A Mandark Cartoon is another amusing Mandark installment and Tele Trauma is truly terrific and a good showcase on television and its impact.
A Boy Named Sue reveals that he’s a child of hippies. It’s an important, but also very entertaining segment. Lab on the Run is fine, but not particularly fun. Dos Boot is great in concept and pretty strong in execution as well. A Dee Dee Cartoon finally focuses on Dee Dee as she’s been absent somewhat from this season and it’s a lot of fun. Would You Like That in the Can is such an entertaining, funny girls centered storyline.
That Magic Moment is entirely forgettable, but A Silent Cartoon is a perfect parody of Pink Panther. So good. Opposites Attract finds the two siblings stuck together literally leading to one fine sibling storyline. Comic Relief is a pretty good superhero episode for once and with good humor. A Third Dad Cartoon is too silent and too uneventful with one gag literally spread to six or so minutes. And RoboDexo 3000 is an uninspired, weak robot episode.

Glove at First Sight is most definitely a weak family history storyline, A Mom & Dad Cartoon is another uninspired family story and Smells Like Victory is quite unappealing leading to one very weak episode. Oh, Brother is interesting in concept, but not great in execution. Another Dad Cartoon is also very uninspired and dull. Bar Exam is also weak leading to another weak episode consecutively.
Jeepers, Creepers, Where Is Peepers is an endearing fantasy storyline whereas Go, Dexter Family! Go! is such a good, entertaining ‘Incredibles’ like superhero family segment. Scare Tactics is a pretty amusing episode centering on horror films. My Dad Vs. Your Dad is such an entertaining, funny episode centering on the feud between Mandark’s and Dexter’s dad.
All in all, this third season is definitely not great as it lacks in terrific episodes, but it also lacks in weaker ones. It’s basically filled with very good episodes throughout which is a good thing and I’ve had a blast watching them.
