Destruction, Inc. (1942)
Destruction, Inc. Review
Destruction, Inc. is a 1942 animated short film from Famous Studios. It is the thirteenth entry in the Superman series.
This is actually the most realistic, most espionage flick in the series so far. It literally plays like a more serious Bond movie, and it was always interesting witnessing such a serious superhero series in the early forties no less. I loved what they did with Lois here as she is badass, fierce and not just a love interest, but a genuinely proactive female character.
Superman, on the other hand, is underutilized this time around. And in my opinion that twist was silly. It was funny that he was the old man all along, but still the fact that Lois recognized him as an old man, but not as Superman was ridiculous. But the animation is stupendous, and the voice acting and score are both top-notch.
Destruction, Inc. is silly in its ending, but wonderfully proactive in Lois’ character and it’s a very interesting espionage tale overall.
