Designs on Jerry (1955)
Designs on Jerry Review
Designs on Jerry is a 1955 animated short that is the 93rd Tom and Jerry cartoon. It is such a fantastic entry that is one of the best of all time.
Yes, it happened. A short from the fifties finally got on my top ten list. And Designs on Jerry deserves a high placement because it is just so incredible. This is one of my childhood favorites and I love it now more than ever before. The plot is so unique and it just might be the most original Tom and Jerry short ever. Tom designs a machine to catch Jerry, but the stick-mouse and cat both come to life and the chase ensues. So awesome.
The only problem here is the humor which should have been stronger. But everything else is great including the animation which is top-notch. I loved those two stick characters and what they brought to the table. The action sequences here are phenomenal and perfectly constructed. I loved that ending with Tom cursing, that was a lot of fun. And I loved this entry from beginning to end as it never has a weaker moment or scene whatsoever. Everything is fantastic which is why it is so high on my list.
