Daffy’s Southern Exposure (1942)
Daffy’s Southern Exposure Review
Daffy’s Southern Exposure is a 1942 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very fun flick.
Daffy Duck, the star here, refuses to follow the other birds to South so he overstays during winter. Naturally, he finds difficulties to find food and comfort so he arrives to the house of weasel and fox who chase the duck to eat him. Although they really did not make use of this terrific premise to the fullest extent and particularly the humor isn’t the strongest, still the premise remains great and the film is hugely entertaining.
Daffy is phenomenal here per usual and I did really like that fox and weasel who proved to be great villains. The highlight is the middle section where we meet the two, but I also really like the third act in South America. It reminded me of ‘The Three Caballeros’ as it truly was a topical thing to set the film there during the early forties. Also, the atmosphere and score are both superb in this cartoon.
Daffy’s Southern Exposure is a strongly imagined, highly entertaining Daffy Duck adventure with a great premise and memorable villains.
