Crazy Cruise Review

Crazy Cruise is a 1942 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very typical flick.

I am honestly getting tired by these spot-gag cartoons and this one is different from those that came before it, but in my opinion it’s different for the worse. I am talking about its scattershot humor brought to an extreme as the segments are now only tens of seconds in length and the film has so many of them that most fail to register laughs.

I did like that final gag with Bugs Bunny of course as it was unexpected and a pleasant surprise. He is a major star by now so his every appearance is bound to generate my excitement. But the other segments are for the most part quite forgettable and I just found the entire cartoon overly frenetic in pace and badly structured.

Crazy Cruise is too fast, too short in the segments’ length and thus unappealing with only the last Bugs Bunny segment being terrific.
