Chips Ahoy Review

Chips Ahoy Review

Chips Ahoy is a 1956 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a very entertaining cartoon.

Chip and Dale take Donald’s model ship to sail to an island where there is a tree with acorns on it. We have seen similar movies before where Donald makes the chipmunks believe that they are in a real object that is actually a toy, so it’s not the most original short out there. But the formula works, so ultimately I did have a lot of fun with it.

The highlight is the scene where he recreated the storm for their model ship. That was hilarious and so inventive. Chip and Dale are so much fun in this cartoon, especially their numerous funny catchphrases. The animation is gorgeous, the score is quite good and the pacing is great. The ending could have been stronger overall, but the rest of the short is eventful and filled with gags that were really well constructed.

Chips Ahoy has a familiar premise that was executed superbly. The highlight is the humor and the numerous hilarious lines of dialogue from Chip and Dale, who got such a beautiful sendoff in this film.

My Rating – 4.1
