Chip an’ Dale (1947)
Chip an’ Dale Review
Chip an’ Dale is a 1947 animated short film produced by Disney. It is a very endearing, fun cartoon.
This is a Donald Duck short as well as the one starring the titular creatures, the first cartoon that named the two. Donald easily steals the show from these chipmunks as they still aren’t as memorable as they would become later down the line. They are more of an amusing nuisance here than fully fleshed out characters.
The highlight is seeing Donald lose his patience with the critters. He is particularly funny when he is angry and the finale was hilarious and so well executed in its last gag. The animation is also beautiful as the movie has a wonderful setting superbly used for cartoon comedy. I just wish the second act was stronger as this is where the movie stumbled a bit. The beginning was excellent, though.
