Chili Weather Review

Chili Weather is a 1963 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty solid cartoon.

Speedy Gonzales comes to help his starving friends gain access to the wealth of food inside a processing plant guarded by Sylvester Cat. The main issue with this short is its familiar nature. We have seen this story depicted so many times before and honestly it was done much better in many of those shorts.

The conveyor belt action is, nonetheless, quite a lot of fun. The miniaturization ending was also effective in its cartoon logic and goofy scenarios. As for the animation and score, both are very strong and the movie is well made overall. Sylvester is excellent here in his usual bravado self while Sylvester also got some moments to shine. I just wish that the plot and scenarios were more memorable.

Chili Weather is a solid Merry Melodies short that benefits from some strong gags, but overall the plot left a lot to be desired.
