Canned Feud (1951)
Canned Feud Review
Canned Feud is a 1951 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a solid little flick.
Sylvester is alone in the house, but one persistent mouse continues to pester him. He tries to get rid of him unsuccessfully of course. This short has some very fun sequences. My favorite is the vacuum cleaner scene which is very amusing and so well executed. Some scenes here definitely reach that Tom & Jerry level of greatness.
But only some. Others not so much. The whole movie is, as I’ve said above, derivative of the aforementioned series. Sylvester is great, but the mouse himself is less memorable and more typical of a character. The film looks good, but overall the storytelling is nothing to write home about.
Canned Feud has some good scenes and fine Sylvester, but the plot is derivative and the short isn’t all that memorable despite some funny moments.
