By Word of Mouse is a 1954 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a fun short.
When not dodging Sylvester, a visiting German mouse learns about capitalism from his American friends. Yes, this is a very strange movie that ended up working due to its originality. I did find the first half less interesting as it took its time to get there, but when it did, it was a blast to watch.
Better characterization was in order, but that economics professor mouse was just so memorable and amusing. The way he talked and his look was so cute. The various scenes where the mice escaped from Sylvester all the while they learned about capitalism were hilarious. The ending did not stick the landing, but the scenes leading up to it were uniformly excellent and so well animated.
By Word of Mouse is uneven in execution, but very amusing and interesting in its very original premise and fun professor character.
