Bully for Bugs (1953)
Bully for Bugs is a 1953 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very weak flick.
Bugs Bunny takes a wrong turn at Albuquerque and winds up in a Mexican bullring fighting one heck of a big bullying bull. Bugs is pretty good here, he’s so much fun and the animation and some of the action is great. The movie is cute and solidly engaging.
However, I have seen similar bull cartoons before, and this is not anything new. Bugs by now enjoyed a classic status, so he definitely deserved better supporting players and much better storylines. Most of the humor and action here is subpar and not particularly memorable.
Bully for Bugs is a solid, cute flick, but it lacks truly great humor, characterization and storytelling.
One of Chuck Jones’ greatest masterpieces is a WEAK entrance?
Yes, I didn’t quite care for it the first time watching it, but maybe I should rewatch it and I may change my opinion.
