Booby Hatched is a 1944 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is quite an amusing short

This is a somewhat regular tale of a wolf chasing a chicken egg as he wants to eat it and it’s up to his mother to save him. That ending is a lot of fun where we realize that he wants to stay in that very warm supper. I also really liked the first part with the chicks’ hatching being so funny. Those parts make up for the movie not being all that great as a whole.

I’m talking about the middle parts which were unfortunately not all that entertaining and the arrival of the wolf was done in a very rushed and problematic manner. But I did like the movie’s animation quite a bit as it looks polished and very pleasing. The score’s also pretty good. I just wish the pacing was better.

Booby Hatched is a solid Looney Tunes entry which is less the sum of its parts than a couple of really strong sequences.
