Billion Dollar Limited (1941)
Billion Dollar Limited Review
Billion Dollar Limited is a 1941 animated short film from Fleischer Studios. It is the third entry in the Superman series.
Whereas I loved ‘Superman’ and I really enjoyed ‘The Mechanical Monsters’, Billion Dollar Limited is the first time in the series that I felt that a significant quality dip occurred. Yes, this movie is still pretty solid owing to expectedly strong animation, good characterization and an expectedly fun ending, but overall it’s just solid and competent without ever reaching greatness.
The animation itself is strong, but not as amazing as in the previous two movies. I liked some of the action and that this one was more grounded in approach and realistic, but that was also its downfall as the movie was entirely devoid of the fantastical and the sense of fun. It’s also way too low in stakes and excitement.
Billion Dollar Limited is solid and competent, but never entertaining or exciting enough unfortunately.
