Beezy Bear (1955)

Beezy Bear Review
Beezy Bear is a 1955 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a pretty solid flick.
Beekeeper Donald catches Humphrey the bear raiding his hives. He complains to Ranger Woodlore, who assembles his bears and lectures them. Donald puts up a barbed wire fence, which slows Humphrey down a bit, but doesn’t stop him. This is a very strange movie that once again was overly centered on Humphrey the bear and much less so on Donald himself, which was disappointing to me. It also has an odd premise and only the bear got to shine here.
Yes, Humphrey is excellent in this cartoon. His obsession with honey led to many amusing situations and the basic idea that the two wouldn’t realize he is the culprit was a very funny one. The movie becomes repetitious there toward the end, but initially I really enjoyed its premise and the bear was so well utilized.
