Bearly Asleep Review

Bearly Asleep Review

Bearly Asleep is a 1955 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a pretty solid, but forgettable flick.

Humphrey is thrown out of the cave by the other bears due to his snoring. Seeking refuge, he ends up at Donald’s house. This is a different than usual short as Donald here is pretty much in the wrong. Humphrey is the victim and you root for the poor guy to find a cave for himself. This character worked, but Donald was sidelined and the humor was in short supply.

The animation is stellar, gorgeous and its setting was well brought to life. Technically, the movie was excellent. The beginning also was quite memorable. But the ending was forgettable and the entire second half left a lot to be desired in terms of strong humorous scenarios and gags.

Bearly Asleep has strong animation and a well utilized setting, but it lacked in the humor and plot departments.

My Rating – 3.7
