Bacall to Arms (1946)
Bacall to Arms Review
Bacall to Arms is a 1946 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a such an amusing parody.
Various anthropomorphic animals attend a theater playing ‘To Have and Have Not’ which is a famous movie starring Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. I found the film a funny showcase of Boggie’s calm and confident speechifying, but it is at its best when focusing on Bacall herself.
She’s very amusing with that lighter part being hilarious. I found the movie surprisingly low-key and not as epic or as sophisticated as you would expect from such a movie parody short, but still watching those animals all get very horny while looking at her was so funny and also very truthful as audiences of this day truly fell in love with Lauren.
Bacall to Arms could have been more sophisticated, but it’s hilarious in its sexual humor and it succeeds as a very entertaining parody.
