Animal Behaviour (2018)
Animal Behaviour Review
Animal Behaviour is a 2018 Canadian animated short film that was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
It follows a bunch of animals during a group psychotherapy session. It reminded me thus of ‘Creature Comforts’ and it truly was a terrific idea, but the execution should have been better. I just found the entire second half not as funny as the first one as the momentum was lost a bit and certainly some characters are less interesting than the others.
But the idea of these animals behaving humanly, but in the end showing their true animalistic identity was very interesting and I was particularly amused by the leech and the mantis. Dr. Clement is also such a fun character, but Victor got too much screen time. The idea was terrific and I also really liked the voice acting and the animation. The humor is also great and I loved how they incorporated each animal’s ugly habits in the story.
Animal Behaviour is not as great in execution, but the concept is terrific, the animation is fine, the voice acting is very good and the humor’s great.
